Old Line Society

What we do

The Old Line Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization catering to social and civically minded individuals in the Baltimore area. OLS aims at getting the next generation of young professionals in Baltimore to raise money while raising their glasses for local charities and the arts. Since its founding in 2010, OLS has raised tens of thousands of dollars for organizations such as GBMC Hospital, Gilchrist Kids Hospice Care, the Cool Kids Campaign, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Center for Urban Families, Cylburn Arboretum Association, Living Classrooms Foundation, and The Family Tree, while providing a fun and altruistic alternative to the routine social calendar.

What's in a name?

Maryland earned the nickname “Old Line State” in the American Revolution. According to popular tradition, Washington bestowed his high esteem upon the Maryland Line after viewing their heroic stand at the Battle of Long Island.

200 years later, a group of home-grown Baltimoreans and scholarly imports looking to throw a good party and support an admirable cause have harkened back to Maryland's past and established The Old Line Society. The sobriquet coined by George Washington in praise of Maryland's Revolutionary War troops for their dependable valor resonates today with the many local charities and non-profits in need of financial support and awareness.
Playing host to organized happy hours and sponsored benefits, OLS' mission to promote philanthropic awareness and activity amongst young professionals is achieved while also providing much needed funding to select organizations.
